Ministry of Railways has launched a paperless unreserved ticketing mobile application for the passengers travelling from New Delhi to Palwal Section. Now the passengers can buy unreserved tickets through their smart phones and need not visit Stations to purchase tickets. Besides, the Railways has also installed a Cash or Smart Card ticket vending machine at New Delhi Railway Station to provide unreserved tickets with a view to cater to passenger rush. Both the facilities were started by Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu at a function organised at Rail Bhawan today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Prabhu said, the government's endeavour is to provide better facilities to the passengers. He also said, the profit earned by the Railways will be spent on improving passenger amenities. Passengers will have to download the unreserved ticketing mobile application from Google play or Window store to use the facility.<br/><br/>The facility will be available at 11 stations over the Delhi -Palwal section. The application provides necessary on- screen alerts to guide the passengers during the booking process. After booking the ticket, the passenger will get ticket confirmation and once booked it could not be edited or forwarded to another mobile phone. The ticket booked in paperless mode can not be cancelled to prevent claim of refund after journey. Besides, Mr Prabhu also launched an another mobile application called Parichalan to provide mapped movement of freight trains and help plan the movement and loading. This App has the potential to earn carbon credits for railways an become a revenue generating tool for rail customers like Coal India, NTPC and SAIL.
