Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has made it clear that the Unity government in the country would continue until 2020. <br/><br/>Speaking to a group of journalists in Colombo today, the President sought to dispel rumors of break between the two main parties saying no single party could form a government on its own in the current Parliament. <br/><br/>Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) led by President and United National Party (UNP) led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremsinghe had signed a MOU to form a unity government in 2015. <br/><br/>The MOU is expiring this month and there were speculations that the two parties may try to form government on their own. The two parties carry major differences on crucial matters which has attracted criticism in political circles. <br/><br/>Asked about the UNHRC resolution, President Sirisena said that the government would continue to implement the agreed terms. He, however, added that it is a slow process and they cannot have speedy solutions. <br/><br/>The President stated that the government would implement those clauses that are compatible to the country's sovereignty and independence.
