Over the past year, Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, has repeatedly questioned Mahmoud Abbas' commitment to peace and the US president's so-called "deal of the century".</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A senior Palestinian official called the decision a "dangerous escalation".
