The United Nations has opposed safe zones in Syria for refugees, saying country was not the right place for initiative. U.N. High Commissioner on Refugees, Filippo Grandi said that terrorism and fragmentation of Syria and its warring parties are obstacles to creating working safe zones in the country. <br/><br/>He urged nations to concentrate on making peace and do not waste time planning safe zones because they will not safe for people to go back. U.S. President Donald Trump has floated safe zones as a substitute for resettling refugees in the United States and elsewhere around the globe. Syria has expressed its deep concern over the various proposals, saying they would have to be set up in coordination with the Syrian government.<br/>'<br/>Meanwhile, Turkey hosted talks with Syrian opposition members yesterday ahead of U.N.-backed negotiations with the Syrian Government in Geneva later this month.
