Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is the Chief Minister designate of Assam, has resigned from the Council of Ministers.<br/><br/>President Pranab Mukherjee today accepted his resignation.<br/><br/>Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh will hold additional charge of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry.<br/>Mr. Sonowal will take oath as the new Chief Minister of Assam on Tuesday in Guwahati.
