The Union Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ministry is implementing its flagship programme Jal Kranti Abhiyan. The purpose is to create awareness among common people about the conservation of water. In Himachal Pradesh also several steps are being taken by monitoring agency, the Central Water Commission under this programme.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, under this flagship programme Jal Kranti Abhiyan, 24 village Panchayat committees have been formed in this hill state by the Central water Commission. These are the Panchayats which have shortage of water during past few years. The Commission has appointed Jal Mitra and Neer Nari as his representative in these Panchayat. They would be aware about the importance of water conservation and then these representatives would further bring the mass awareness in their respective Panchayat.
