The Union Steel Ministry will produce high quality steel in the country to fulfill the dream of "Make in Steel for Make in India" of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. This was stated by Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh at a press conference in Dharamshala town of Himachal Pradesh today. <br/><br/>Union Minister said that all the important aspects have been included in the new steel policy framed by the Modi Government. 1.50 Lakh million tone high level steel will be produced in the country and a steel plant for this purpose would be set up in the coming years, he said further.<br/><br/>Chaudhary Birender Singh said that at present the consumption of steel is quite low in the country and the government has fixed a target to enhance this consumption up to 300 metric tons during next few years. He said that his ministry has an important role in the GDP of nation and it is about 2 percent of the total GDP. Union Minister said that Union Government wants to double the 1.5 percent export of steel in the coming years so that more and more foreign currency may be earned.
