Union Steel Minister stresses upon the need of a policy for secondary steel sector

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Steel Minister Rama Chandra Prasad Singh has stressed upon the need of a policy for the secondary steel sector in the country. Delivering his inaugural address at the Conference with Mines and Industry Ministers of mineral rich states at Konark in Odisha on Friday, the minister said the secondary steel sector contributes significantly to the country's steel production.<br />'' <br />'' Echoing Prime Minister's vision on Waste to Wealth, the Steel Minister said, that the steel sector is exploring the possibility of using plastic waste in steel production. He said, this will add to the country's effort in becoming a carbon neutral economy by 2070, as envisioned by the Prime Minister following the CoP 26 climate summit last year. He also stressed upon ensuring benefit of various projects to the local populace.<br />'' <br />''Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste underlined centre-state cooperation in resource optimisation. The conference was attended by representatives of five mineral bearing states including Odisha along with heads of Central Public Sector Entreprises like SAIL and NMDC. </span><br />
