Union Steel Minister calls upon steel players to ensure optimum utilisation of resources with appropriate technological support

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Steel Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh has said that a mission to develop secondary steel sector is in the making. Addressing an interactive session with representatives of Odisha-based steel companies in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, the steel minister underlined the need of a policy for the secondary steel sector while saying that this sector will have a bigger role to play in value addition. On the occasion, he called upon the steel players to ensure optimum utilisation of resources with appropriate technological support.<br />''<br />''The Minister said that steel consumption in the country will continue to increase due to the various programmes and schemes of the government, such as the Gatishakti Master Plan, in which the contribution of the secondary steel sector will be very high. He also stressed upon the production of green steel, which he said is in line with the Prime Minister's vision of a carbon-neutral economy by 2070. Various steel companies drew the attention of the ministry to some of their concerns that include availability and accessibility of funds, logistics and clearances.
