In Jammu and Kashmir, a high level central team headed by Union Power Secretary, Mr. H.S Brahma on Monday called on the J&K Chief Secretary, Mr. S.S Kapoor and reviewed the power scenario in the State. The meeting was a follow up of the recent visit by the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh to the State in October during which he had stressed on bringing reforms in power sector in the State. During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on the status of various Flagship Power Projects being executed by National Hydel Power Corporation (NHPC) and measures to remove bottlenecks in their speedy execution. It was apprised that NHPC is executing 5470 MW Power Projects in the State including Pukal Dul, 1020 MW Barsar, 390 MW Kishan Ganga, 120 MW Sewa II, 450 MW Baglihar II and 990 MW Kirthai II Power Projects. The Chief Secretary briefed the central team about the measures underway to improve the power position in the state adding that 2 lakh Electronic Meters have already been procured by the State Power Development Department for installation at various places in Jammu and Srinagar regions.<br/>
