Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal today laid the foundation of 1980 megawatt Ghatampur Thermal Power Station (GTPS) project at Ghatampur in Kanpur today. The proposed power plant is a joint venture of Neyveli Lignite (NLC) Corporation and UP State Power Generation Corporation. <br/><br/>In this joint power project of central and state government, seventy percent project cost will be borne by NCL and thirty percent will bear by the UP state Power Generation Corporation.<br/><br/>Speaking on this occasion Piyush Goyal said that 17 thousand 223 crore rupees will be invested by the two power corporations for the project. Mentioning the several incomplete power projects in the past, he said that this project was also pending for long time and till 2014 land was not allotted to the project. <br/><br/>Mr Goyal said government is committed to made available electricity 2019 to every part of the country .The union power minister said that more generation of power in UP will also ensure the development of state .
