BJP has decided that its Union ministers will visit party offices once a month to meet party workers and hear their grievances. The move is aimed at improving coordination between the government and the party.
This was decided at a dinner meeting attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the party headquarters in New Delhi yesterday night.
A number of Central ministers and top BJP leaders, including party president and Home Minister Rajnath Singh attended it. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said the ministers during their visit to the party headquarters will take suggestions from the public for the government.
He said all ministers have also been asked to visit party offices in their respective states during their visit outside Delhi. Mr. Javadekar said it is a healthy tradition in a democracy where the voice of party workers will be heard and suggestions sought for the government.
During the meeting, Mr. Modi and Mr. Rajnath Singh discussed the party's plans and preparedness for the upcoming assembly elections in some states and asked all the ministers to visit the concerned states more frequently.
The meeting comes ahead of proposed changes in the party after government-formation as many party leaders joined the government as ministers.
The BJP is also set to see a new President in place of Rajnath Singh who is expected to relinquish charge soon.
