Union Minister of state for power and new and renewable energy Shri Piyush Goyal has stressed the need to ensure energy security of the country.<br/><br/>He said that the new and renewable energy is the only option to secure it.<br/><br/>He was speaking after dedicating Swantantraveer Sawarkar Memorial which is the first national memorial of the country fully powered by solar energy in Mumbai on Saturday.<br/><br/>The memorial would be completely operated on solar energy from Saturday and this new project is expected to save 90,000 units of electricity per year as well as 5,27,276 litres of bio-fuel. This will also help reduce carbon emission.<br/><br/>The minister expressed confidence to increase the use of solar energy by 40% in the next six and half years.<br/><br/>He praised the efforts of the representatives of the Sawarkar Memorial to erect the Solar power plant in the memorial.<br/><br/>He said that this is the perfect homage to the revolutionary national leader with scientific vision.<br/><br/>
