Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launches new Corporate Social Responsibility guidelines 'Sagar Samajik Sahayyog' for ports

Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal have launched new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) guidelines 'Sagar Samajik Sahayyog' for ports today in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sonowal said that the renewed guidelines for CSR activities will allow ports to initiate, undertake and expedite projects for community welfare through a framework where local communities can also become partners of development and change.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Under new rules, each major port will constitute a three-member-CSR Committee headed by the Dy. Chairperson to plan and implement the projects. Ports with an annual net profit of 100 crore rupees or less can fix between three and five percent for CSR expenses.<br />''<br />'' Likewise, ports with a net profit between 100 to 500 crore rupees annually, can fix their CSR expenses between two and three percent of their net profit, subject to a minimum of three crore rupees. <br />''<br />''For ports, whose annual net profit is above 500 crore rupees per year, the CSR expenses can be between 0.5 and two percent of its net profit. Additionally, two percent of the total CSR expense will be used for monitoring the projects.</span><br />
