Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal today said that the media and entertainment industry has a huge potential to connect people, to connect businesses and to connect nations.

The Union Minister was virtually delivering the keynote address at a special session titled 'Commerce meets Creativity' at the 23rd FICCI FRAMES in Mumbai today.

The Minister said that the media and entertainment industry can showcase the New India of today to the world. He added that the industry can help in boosting the economy, reaching out to the audience, influencing opinions and spreading positivity.

The Union Minister said that the world is appreciating Indian art and culture. He said that the recent Oscar wins for the 'Naatu-Naatu' song and the 'Elephant Whisperers' showcase India's emerging contribution to the field of entertainment.

The minister expressed hope that as we enter the Amrit Kaal, the Indian entertainment and media industry will make a mark that will be matchless.

The minister said that the Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is supportive of all the efforts by the media and entertainment industries to expand the frontiers of the sector globally.
