Union Minister Parshottam Rupala addresses at World Fisheries Day 2021 in Bhubaneswar

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala has said that the decision of extending the benefits of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to fishermen and fish farmers is a big gift to the fishing community by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  <br />'' <br />'' Addressing at a function in Bhubaneswar to mark the World Fisheries Day 2021, the Union Minister said KCC will enable fish farmers and fishermen to avail institutional credit to sustain their livelihood. He called upon all concerned to create adequate awareness on the scheme for the beneficiaries. Stating that the Prime Minister has been giving a lot of focus on fisheries, the Union Minister said promoting fisheries is like welcoming Laxmi- the Goddess of wealth.<br />'' <br />'' AIR correspondent reports, Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for  Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and MoS for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan highlighted many initiatives taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development of the fisheries sector in the country.<br />'' <br />'' He said, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a new ministry for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying was created for the first time in the history of independent India. He said, it was also for the first time that the Prime Minister also launched the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana with an amount of about 20 thousand crore rupees- the highest ever investment in the sector.<br />''<br />''Stating that the country is aiming at Rupees one lakh crore income from this sector by 2024-2025, Dr Murugan said that the Prime Minister has also been putting emphasis on sea weed cultivation to ensure the employment and empowerment of fisher women of the country.</span><br />
