Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Narayan Rane chaired the "North East MSME Conclave" today at Guwahati for promoting entrepreneurship and opportunities for MSMEs in the North-Eastern Region.<br />''<br />''Addressing the conclave, Mr Rane said that MSME sector plays a significant role in terms of job creation and expanding manufacturing base. He added that the impact of MSMEs on our economy is immense and it can play the pivotal role in fulfilling  Prime Minister's dream of Atmanirvar Bharat.<br />''<br />''The Union Minister said that MSME sector can increase our per capita income and such conclaves will help North East Region in its efforts towards encouraging entrepreneurship and enhancing competitiveness of the sector in the changed economic scenario.<br />''Mr Rane said that India can develop only when we develop the North-east and it is also the top most priority of his Ministry to bring in economic prosperity to the region and set a target of 50 per cent growth of MSME sector in the next five years for this region.<br />''The Union Minister has launched a seperate website of MSME for North-East and Sikkim on this occasion.<br />''<br />''Currently, MSME sector consists of over 6 crore units employing over 11 crore people and is a seminal contributor to the economic growth with over 30 per cent of contribution to GDP and over 49 per cent of overall exports from India.<br />''<br />''The conclave was organised by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and several ministers from Northeastern states attended the event. <br />
