Union Minister Mahesh Sharma opens International Buddhist Conclave in New Delhi

Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma inaugurated the 5th International Buddhist Conclave in New Delhi yesterday. He said, the solution of all modern day problems lies in Buddhism. The Minister said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accords very high priority to Buddhism and which is reflected in record number – over 275 participants from 39 countries. Mr Sharma said, the Tourism Ministry has sanctioned huge amount of money for development of Buddhist circuit.<br/><br/>Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka Karu Jayasuriya and Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kingdom of Thailand Chavanee Tongroach were also present at the event.<br/><br/>With a view to showcasing and projecting the Buddhist heritage and pilgrim sites of India, the Tourism Ministry is organizing a five-day Conclave in Varanasi-Sarnath and Bodhgaya in collaboration with the State Governments of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
