Union Minister L Murugan offers prayers at historic Tiruketheeswaram temple in Sri Lanka

Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Dr. L Murugan visited Mannar where he distributed assistance to 150 families. He offered prayers at the historic Thiruketheeswaram temple before proceeding to Mannar. The temple trustees recalled with gratitude the generous assistance in restoration of the temple by Government of India. The minister stressed on India's commitment to strengthen age-old civilisational bonds between the two countries. Dr. Murugan also visited Thalaimannar from where ferry services to India are proposed to be resumed. Earlier yesterday, he had visited Kankesanthurai port which is soon to be connected by ferry services to Puducherry.<br />'' <br />'' Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremasinghe will dedicate the Jaffna Cultural Center to the people on Saturday. Dr. Murugan will participate in the event alongside High Commissioner of India, Gopal Baglay.<br />'' <br />''The Jaffna Cultural Center project was built under an Indian grant, at a cost of 11 million dollars. The center will provide suitable social infrastructure for the people of Northern Province, especially those residing in Jaffna, to reconnect themselves with their cultural roots and the rest of the country.  The centre comprises a theatre style auditorium with capacity of 600 people, a multimedia library with online research facilities, exhibition and gallery space and a museum.
