Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal virtually inaugurates Mega Food Park in Mizoram

Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today virtually inaugurated the first Mega Food Park in Mizoram.<br />'' <br />''While inaugurating the Zoram Mega Food Park, the Minister said, it will benefit farmers, growers, processors, consumers and prove to be a big boost to the growth of the food processing sector in the North East Region.<br />'' <br />''She said, the Mega Food Park will provide direct and indirect employment to 5,000 people and benefit around 25,000 farmers.<br />'' <br />''She said, the park will leverage an additional investment of about Rs. 250 crore in 30 food processing units and would eventually lead to a turnover of about Rs. 500 crore annually.<br />'' <br />''She said, this Mega Food Park is equipped with a dry warehouse of 3000 metric tonnes capacity and cold storage of 1000 metric tonnes.<br />'' <br />''She said, Zoram Mega Food Park will not only play a significant role in linking agricultural production to the market but will also help in keeping the food spoils to a minimum and prevent the post-harvest losses.<br />'' <br />''Ms Badal informed that a total of 88 projects supported by Food Processing Ministry have been sanctioned in the North Eastern Region and 41 have been implemented.<br />'' <br />''She said, these 88 projects would create processing and preservation capacity for 8.66 lakh metric tonnes to handle agro produce worth Rs. 2,166 crores on completion.<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">She said, under the visionary guidance of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ministry of Food Processing Industries is focusing on boosting the food processing industry.</span>
