Union Minister of Food processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal laid foundation stone of Sukhjit Mega food park and Infra Ltd at village Rehana Jattan of district Kapurthala today. Addressing the gathering, Smt Badal said that the food processing industry is being given a major boost to double farmer's income as well as for giving impetus to the Make in India initiative. She said that the objective of the Mega food park scheme of Govt of India is to create modern infrastructure for food processing industry along with the value chain from farm to market with strong forward, backward linkages besides conserving the water table of the state.<br/> <br/>The Managing director of the company IK Sardana told our correspondent that the Project will be set up with investment of around 125 crore rupees on 55 acres of land. He said, the project is a Net water saver project as it will create huge demand of maize which is a low water intensive crop, and will help break the wheat-paddy cycle to conserve the depleting water resources of the state. It will benefits not only farmers of the state, but will also creat huge employment opportunities for the youth, he said.<br/>
