Union Minister Gadkari calls for use of alternative fuels like ethanol, methanol, bio-diesel

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Minister for Road Transport, Shipping and Water Resources, Nitin Gadkari has called for the use of alternative fuels like ethanol, methanol and bio-diesel. Addressing the ‘India Chem 2018’ exhibition cum conference in Mumbai on Thursday, Mr. Gadkari said ethanol is the future and government has decided to increase its production.</span><br />” <br />” <span style="color: #222222;">Stressing the need for reducing crude imports that is causing an economic crisis, Mr. Gadkari said India’s petrochemical sector holds huge potential and crude imports needs to be substituted with pollution-free, cost-effective and indigenous fuels.</span><br />” <br />” <span style="color: #222222;">The minister also announced the government's plans to start a pilot project in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and Guwahati to run electric buses on methanol derived from coal.</span><br />
