Union Minister for Development of the North East Region, G. Kishan Reddy today inspected the Agartala-Akhaura New Rail Link Project at soon to be operational Nischintpur railway station. Speaking after meeting with Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik, State Minister Sushanta Choudhary, and officials of IRCON, the company which is implementing the project, the DoNER Minister said that the rail link project from Agartala to Akhaura will bolster the bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''He said the rail link project will complete soon, and the railway line will be flagged off this year itself.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Mr. Reddy said the Ministry of Development of North East Region is funding the railway line from Agartala to Nischintpur; whereas Ministry of External Affairs is funding for the rail line from Nischintpur to Gangasagar which is in Bangladesh.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He said this rail line is strategic in nature, as India believes in further enhancing the ties with Bangladesh. The Minister also said that trade between the two countries will be strengthened with the operationalization of this rail link project.</span><br />
