Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizer Ananth Kumar said that during the last two and half years 1,150 medicines and drug prices were controlled and reduced leading to consumers benefitting to the tune of 5,500 crore rupees. Speaking to media in Bengaluru today, the minister said that according to the National List of Essential Medicines these medicines were used for treatment of Cancer, Diabetese, Respiratory diseases, Cardio Vascular problems, HIV/AIDS and Blood Pressure related diseases. <br/><br/>Replying to a question he said that the notification regarding regulation of the price of Stents used in cardiac surgeries would be brought in force within the next fortnight.
