Union Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded Central Information Commission for achieving a consistent decline in the pendency of RTI cases with the constant rise in the disposal of the RTI appeals. Addressing the 14th Special General Body Meeting of the National Federation of Information Commissions of India in New Delhi today Dr. Singh said pendency reduced from about 40 thousand cases last year to around 27 thousand cases, while the disposal of cases increased about 70 per cent over last one year.<br />''<br />''The Minister added, that all steps will be taken to fulfill the aspirations and expectations of the people.<br />''<br />''Dr. Jitendra Singh said, transparency, accountability and a citizen-centric approach have become the hallmark of the governance model since the Modi government came into power in 2014.&nbsp; The Minister pointed out that it was during the Modi government that 24 hours postal service was introduced for e-filing of the RTI applications.<br />''<br />''Dr. Jitendra Singh also mentioned the Central Information Commission started entertaining, hearing and disposing of RTIs from the newly created Union Territory of Jammu &amp; Kashmir, through virtual means. He said, applicants from J&amp;K and Ladakh were allowed to file RTI applications from home and even for appeals to the CIC.&nbsp;
