<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh has announced a special drive for promoting StartUps and Research and Development activities in new and emerging areas in the universities of Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Startups and R&D activities will be promoted by providing basic infrastructure and enabling scientific facilities. The special drive in the region will be in addition to Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, and Rajasthan. Dr Singh announced about it at the "Vishwavidyalaya Anusandhan Utsav 2023" organized at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi today. He mentioned that universities and related institutions need to play a major role in generating high-caliber human resources as repositories of national intellectual wealth in the Science and Technology sector. The Union Minister informed that the Department of Science and Technology nurtures and supports a variety of infrastructure-related schemes like FIST and  PURSE towards augmenting the R&D equipment for research activities at various institutes.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">The Union Minister also launched a new scheme, SUPREME, to provide financial support for repair and upgradation or acquire additional attachments to increase the functional capabilities of existing analytical instrumentation facilities.</span></p>
