<span style="color: #222222;">Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav today said that the participation of the masses is important to ensure that India achieves its carbon-neutral target by 2070.<br />''<br />''Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the two-day Sensitization cum Review Workshop on the National Clean Air Programme in Mumbai, Mr. Yadav said civic bodies across the state must try to seek inputs from youngsters, NGOs, and experts so that each one of us is able to breathe clean air, an essential for good health.<br />''<br />''Talking about the government's efforts, Environment Minister Mr. Yadav said air quality monitoring systems have been installed across 132 cities that function 24×7. He said the government is working to reduce vehicular pollution by focussing on building highways so that heavy vehicles do not enter the city and also by implementing BS6 norms.<br />''<br />''Also present on the occasion, Maharashtra's Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray said 43 AMRUT cities from Maharashtra have joined the global 'Race to Zero' campaign. Mr. Thackeray said the state government is committed to converting at least half of the fleet owned by Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport – BEST into electric buses by 2023 and the entire fleet by 2027. He said cities like Nashik, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai are also working to make themselves carbon neutral.<br />''<br />''While the current session was held for the municipal bodies of Maharashtra, Goa, and Gujarat, the ministry plans to conduct similar workshops for other stakeholders like farmers, youngsters, NGOs, and women. </span><br />
