Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale has demanded a constitutional amendment to ensure reservation for all economically backward people irrespective of their caste or creed. Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru today, he said, at present there was reservation only to people belonging to SC/ST, OBC and demand is increasing from other weaker sections of the society. Mr Athwale, who is also Republican Party of India (RPI) National President, said that he will raise the issue in the next Parliament session. <br/> <br/>Defending the demonetisation process, he said, RPI welcomes banning of high valued notes by the Modi Government as it was aimed at curbing corruption and put an end to black money. He said, demonetisation is in accordance with the principles of Dr Baba Sab Ambedkar, who was a great Economist and had suggested change in currency every 10 year once.<br/> <br/>Mr Athwale called upon the Union and State Governments to encourage inter-caste marriage to bring social equality in the Society. The RPI National President was in the city to preside over the Party's two day executive meeting and National Convention which began today.
