Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addresses 'Mati Kala Mohotsav' at Science City in Ahmedabad

<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said the total business of Khadi has crossed one lakh 35 thousand crore rupees in the year 2022-23 and due to this turn over, lakhs of people are living their livelihood with dignity and self-reliance. The Minister was addressing the 'Mati Kala Mohotsav' at Science City in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Saturday (2nd December 2023). Mr Shah said, tripling the turnover of Khadi means providing employment to lakhs of people. He further told that the Government of India is making a tie-up to get tea 'kulhad' in the railways. It has already started at the Gandhinagar railway station.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Expressing happiness about the rapid development of Indian economy, Mr. Shah said that, today India's GDP has reached the fifth place from the eleventh place at the global level.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">     </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Regarding the 'margin money subsidy' received by the beneficiaries under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), he said that online payment of margin money of 200 crore rupees has been made to 5000 beneficiaries across the country including Gujarat. Potters and pottery artists from all over the country participated in the Mati Kala Mahotsav which was organized by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission of the Central Government. A seminar on pottery was also held as part of the program in which more than 5 thousand artists participated.  </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Home Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Gujarat. Earlier, in the morning, Mr Shah offered prayers at Somnath Temple in Gir Somnath district. Mr. Shah then attended a commemoration function at the Gir foothills of Junagadh, organized in the centenary year of Divyakant Nanavati, the former President of Junagadh Municipality and twice elected MLA.</p>
