Union Health Minister holds telephonic conversation with WHO Chief; discusses pandemic management, WHO reforms

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a telephonic conversation with World Health Organization (WHO) Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and discussed various issues related to health, including pandemic management and WHO reforms.<br />'' <br />''In a tweet last evening, Mr Mandaviya said, the WHO chief praised the Indian government for large scale COVID-19 vaccination. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said the Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. The Health Ministry said, more than 102 crores vaccine doses have been provided to States and Union Territories so far through the free of cost channel and through direct state procurement category. It said, more than 10 crore 42 lakh balance and unutilized COVID vaccine doses are still available with the States and Union Territories to be administered.</span><br />
