Union Government gives more emphasis on reform, perform, transform & inform : Naidu

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu has said the Union Government gives more emphasis on "reform, perform, transform and inform," so that the fruits of development reaches all in the country. He reviewed the functioning of various media units of the Ministry in Chennai at the All India Radio premises. <br/><br/>Later, addressing the press, he said information and communication is a critical component in the Communication Policy of India. He emphasized that expansion of government set up in media units would not be in tandem with the policy of "Minimum Government, Maximum Governance." <br/><br/>Mr Venkaiah Naidu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving due importance to regional dialects as his periodic "Mann Ki Baat" radio address is being telecast in all regional languages also. <br/><br/>Stressing that news on development communication is critical for nation building, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said mere sensationalism would not long last in the minds of the public though there is a thirst for knowing more on ways and means of development. <br/><br/>When asked about the granting of provisional license to the Tamil Nadu government-run Digital Addressable System called "Arasu Cable TV," the minister said, though TRAI has opposed such licenses to Government run agencies, he had decided to grant the provisional license as consumers will ultimately be benefited with significantly reduced monthly subscription charges. He said private players have a level playing field in the sector.<br/><br/>Minister Venkaiah Naidu is scheduled to flag off a 7.4 kilometer stretch Chennai Metro Rail service from Tirumangalam in Anna Nagar to Nehru Park tomorrow, along with the state chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy. Later, he will review the development programmes of the Centre being implemented in Tamil Nadu on housing, urban development and poverty alleviation, along with the chief minister.
