The Union Cabinet today considered the report of the Group of Ministers on the Delhi High Court judgment related to Article 377 about gay sex and directed the Attorney General to assist the Supreme Court in all possible manners in arriving at an opinion on the correctness of the judgment. br/The Union Cabinet also approved the payment of Productivity Linked Bonus equivalent to 75 days wages for all Non-Gazetted Railway employees for the year 2008-09. The total cost of the bonus is estimated to be around 889 crore Rupees and will benefit 13.05 lakh employees. br/The approval for the setting up of 9 additional National Institutes of Technologies, NITs including five in Goa, Puducherry, Sikkim, Delhi and Uttarkhand has also been given by the cabinet. Other NITs will be at Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland. br/The Cabinet also approved the amendment proposed by the Health Ministry to the Transplantation of Human Organs Act. The amendment will make the process of transplantation more patient-friendly and impose stringent punishment for anybody involved in organ trafficking. br/The approval for the Railway Ministry's proposal for availing loan for the dedicated Western Rail Freight Corridor from Rewari to Vadodra in Gujarat has also been given. The first phase of the project will cost nearly 17,700 core rupees.br/The cabinet also approved the extension of validity of central orders regarding the removal of control imposed under Essential Commodity Act, 1955 in respect of paddy, oil seeds, sugar and rice. The extension will be valid from January 2010 to September 2010. This will enable State Governments to take effective action against hoarders and also enable them to fix stock limit. Our Correspondent says that the move is expected to moderate the prices of these commodities and ensure their availability at fair price shop.br/
