Union Budget 2017: FM lowers cash donation limit for political parties to Rs 2,000

To cleanse the political funding, the budget proposes a scheme to limit cash donation from a person to 2,000 rupees only. However, political parties can receive donations by cheque or digital mode. An amendment is being proposed to the RBI Act for issuance of electoral bonds. Under this scheme, a donor can purchase bonds from authorized banks against cheque or digital payments. Every political party will have to file its return within the time prescribed in the Income Tax Act. <br/> <br/>Aadhar Enabled Payment System – Aadhar Pay will be launched shortly. This will benefit those who do not have debit cards, mobile wallets and mobile phones.<br/>To promote affordable housing and real estate sector, the budget proposes certain changes in the profit linked income tax exemption. Instead of built up area of 30 and 60 Square metre, the carpet area of the same measures will be counted. The scheme will also to get an extension from 3 years to 5 years.<br/><br/>Builders will get more breathing time from notional income to sell off their unoccupied houses after getting completion certificates. Changes have also been proposed in the capital gain taxation provisions for land and building. In the new capital of Andhra Pradesh state gets exemption from capital gains tax for persons holding land on June 2nd, 2014, the date of reorganization of the state.<br/> <br/>To check black-money and promote digital economy, the budget proposes no cash transaction above 3 lakh rupees. The duties on devices used for cashless transactions are reduced. <br/><br/>The presumptive income tax for small and medium tax payers with a turnover of 2 crore rupees has been reduced to 6 percent from 8.
