Unified CPN (Maoist) leaders inspect alleged encroachment in Indo-Nepal border area

In Nepal, senior leaders of Unified CPN (Maoist) on Monday visited different places of Nepal-India border as a part of its fourth phase of agitation to inspect the alleged encroachment in border area. After inspecting the border at Tanakpur area in Kanchenpur district in far western Nepal, Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda expressed his party's commitment to fight for protecting the country's territorial integrity. Prachanda said his party's campaign was not directed against India but is aimed at protecting the national sovereignty.<br/><br/>Maoist Vice-Chairman and former finance minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai led a similar border inspection at Susta in Nawalparasi district while the senior Maoist leader Mohan Vaidya Kiran led the inspection team in Pashupatinagar in eastern Nepal’s Ilam district.<br/><br/>The Unified CPN(Maoist) central committee had earlier announced that the party top brass would visit the border areas for inspection of the alleged encroachment from the Indian side, as a part of their fourth phase of agitation programme. As a part of this programme, Maoists today organized awareness meetings at different places along the Nepal-India border.
