Marking the five years of forced exodus of Rohingyas from the Rakhine province of Myanmar to Bangladesh since 25 August 2017, the UNHCR has called for redoubled political dialogue and diplomatic engagement to create conditions for voluntary, safe, dignified and sustainable return of Rohingya to their homeland in Myanmar.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' UNHCR spokesperson Shabia Mantoo told journalists in Geneva&nbsp; that for almost one million Rohingya refugees conditions in Bangladesh are extremely overcrowded. With decreased funding, they face many challenges in their daily lives like lack of proper nutrition, shelter, sanitation facilities and livelihood opportunities.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' The 2022 response plan which seeks over USD 881 million for more than 1.4 million people including Rohingya refugees and more than half a million most affected host communities is only 49 percent funded with USD 426 million received, according to UNHCR.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' The European Union in its statement to mark the 5th anniversary of the forced exodus of Rohingyas, has said that addressing the root causes of this protracted crisis, including the systematic abuses suffered by the hundreds of thousands of Rohingya remaining in Rakhine State, must remain an international priority.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' The EU continues to advocate for the safe, sustainable, dignified, and voluntary return of the Rohingya refugees to their places of origin and to support the work of the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar to ensure full accountability for the crimes committed against them, said the statement. In this regard, the EU fully supports the work of the International Court of Justice.<br />'' <br />'' More than one million Rohingya live in refugee camps in the Cox's Bazar area of Bangladesh after they fled the military crackdown in Myanmar in 2017.&nbsp;
