The Union Home Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram has said that he is not happy with the situation in the naxal-hit region of Gadchiroli in south eastern Maharashtra.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai yesterday, he said that although the centre in its efforts to curb naxal violence, has deployed additional forces in the region and also provided a helicopter, the situation in Gadchiroli remains a matter of concern.
Mr. Chidambaram also said that although naxal violence has declined all over the country, it still remains unacceptably high and has to decline further. He also said that he is monitoring the Mumbai blasts investigation closely, along with Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
