The United Nations General Assembly is holding a summit on refugee crisis this evening. The aim of the summit in New York is to bring countries together behind a more humane and coordinated approach. According to the UN, this is the first time the General Assembly has called for a summit at the Heads of State and Government level on large movements of millions of refugees and migrants. It is a historic opportunity to come up with a blueprint for a better international response.

UN's High Commissioner for Refugees Fillipo Grandi said, the discussion will solve a lot of problems in emergency responses and in long-term refugee situations like the Syrian situation. With more people forced to flee their homes than at any time since World War II, leaders and diplomats are expected to approve a document aimed at unifying the U.N.'s 193 member states behind a more coordinated approach.
