Under construction bridge collapsed; kills six persons

In Rajasthan, a bridge under construction on Chambal river near Kota collapsed last evening. Six persons were killed and seven injured. More than 50 people including some engineers are feared trapped in the debris. Injured persons have been admitted to different hospitals of Kota. Relief and Rescue operation is going on with the help of Army and other agencies and Senior Police and administrative officials are present at the site. The State Chief Minister, Mr. Ashok Gehlot has announced an exgratia payment of two lakh rupees each for the next of kin of those killed and one lakh for the injured. The accident occurred in the evening when 35 meter long steel structure of the under construction bridge over Chambal river on NH 76 was collapsed. The state government has announced an inquiry of this accident by Divisional Commissioner of Kota. Case of criminal negligence has also been registered against two companies constructing the bridge.<br/> <br/><br/>
