In Manipur, the indefinite economic blockade along the two National Highways of the state by the United Naga Council (UNC) will be temporarily lifted from Tuesday morning.UNC President Loli Adani has declared this on Monday in a public meeting held at Tamenglong District Headquarters that the Naga body has decided to temporarily lift the economic blockade on the two National Highways of the state from 6 am in the morning.The Naga body called the indefinite economic blockade on the National Highways from the 21st August last to counter the economic blockade launched by the Sadar Hills District hood Demand Committee (SHDDC) from the first of August last demanding full-fledged district status of Sadar Hills area. However, the UNC continued its economic blockade even after the SHDDC suspended its economic blockade on the midnight of the 31st October last.The decision to lift the economic blockade comes ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's proposed visit to Manipur on the third of December next.
