UN vehicle attacked in Kabul, driver injured

In Afghanistan, a U N vehicle was shot at a busy area in capital Kabul today wounding the vehicle’s driver. The attack came at a time of heavy traffic around Massoud circle, an intersection near the U.S. Embassy and an American military base. A man who saw the shooting said two people were in the vehicle, but only the driver was hit. A UN official confirmed the shooting, but he did not know the condition of the driver.<br/> <br/>A protest against NATO forces in southeastern Kabul turned violent as demonstrators clashed with police. Deputy police chief in the capital Mohammad Khalil Dastyar said that at least 15 police officers and five civilians were wounded. He said the protest was prompted by a raid that Afghan police and intelligence officials conducted at a madarsa in which three people were arrested. NATO officials denied any involvement in the raid. <br/>
