The United Nations has urged the developing countries to increase their food production by 100 per cent in the coming decades to feed their rising population. In an official release, the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation said, the world population is expected to grow at 9.2 billion by 2050, which involves meeting double the demand for food in developing countries. It said there is no option but to further intensify crop production.
