UN to assist Nepal’s peace process commitments

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has said the world body as a whole stand ready to assist Nepal in achieving its peace process commitments. However, he said consultations held among three major parties on peace process and Constitution, have so far continued on an ad-hoc basis. He called for a more formal mechanism to support interaction among the senior political leaders that would benefit the peace process. In his latest report to the Security Council on the peace process in Nepal, the Secretary General said the core commitments in Nepal’s peace process have yet to be implemented, and this is a matter of serious concern. The Secretary General’s report would be discussed by the Security Council when it meets on Novembers 6.
