A team of UN inspectors has arrived in Iran to visit its newly declared uranium enrichment plant near the town of Qom. The four scientists were due to inspect the facility from today and according to Iran's Fars news agency the inspectors will stay in Iran for two or three days. The visit is taking place as per the agreement reached between Iran and IAEA , earlier this month in connection with inspection of its recently declared nuclear enrichment facility. Meanwhile IAEA and world powers are waiting for Iran's reply as Iran has asked for one week to respond on a UN-backed proposal which could see its uranium shipped overseas for enrichment. Iran’s State TV however has said Iran would prefer to buy uranium for a reactor that makes medical isotopes, rather than send its own stock abroad for enrichment. In a related development Iran's parliament speaker Ali Larijani yesterday alleged that Western powers are trying to cheat Iran through deal. He told ISNA news agency that he sees no links between providing the fuel for the Tehran reactor and sending Iran's low enriched uranium abroad. The US and several other countries accuse Iran of seeking nuclear weapons, but Iran rejecting the charges, claims that it seeks nuclear technology for electricity generation and has opened its facilities to inspection by the IAEA.
