UN says it is surprised and shocked that rebels in Aleppo are targeting civilians in the city and such attacks could amount to war crimes. Its special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura has said, the relentless and indiscriminate rocket attacks had killed scores of civilians in the past 48 hours. <br/><br/>At least 41 civilians including 16 children were killed in a rebel offensive, where Government forces and rebels are engaged in fierce fighting. UK based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has said, 55 soldiers and 64 rebels had also died. Rebels began an offensive on Friday aimed at breaking the government siege of east Aleppo. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, State run Sana news agency has said, rebels fired shells containing toxic gas into government controlled districts of Dahiyet al-Assad and Hamdaniya. It said, 35 people had suffered shortness of breath and numbness. Russia had suspended its air campaign on 18 October to allow evacuations of sick and injured people but few have reportedly heeded the call to leave.
