UN Security Council calls for a prompt and impartial investigation into Israeli raid on Palestine bound Flotilla

The UN Security Council has called for a prompt, impartial, credible and transparent investigation related to the Israeli raid on Flotilla, confirming the international standards. Reading out the statement after it was adopted by all 15 members of UN Security Council today, the Mexican ambassador to the UN Claude Heller said that Security Council deeply regrets the loss of life and injuries resulting from the use of force during Israeli operations in international waters. He also condemned the acts, which has resulted to the loss of life of at least 10 civilians. <br/><br/>The UN Security Council also called for immediate release of ships and civilians and demanded full consular access to the families of the deceased and delivery of aid to its destination. <br/><br/>The council also reiterated its great concern at the humanitarian situation in Gaza and stressed the need for sustained and regular flow of goods to people of Gaza and distribution of humanitarian aid to Gaza. <br/><br/>The statement underscored that only viable solution of the Israeli Palestinian conflict is an agreement negotiated between two parties and emphasised that the two-state solution with an independent and viable Palestinian state living side by side with Israel could bring peace in the region. <br/>
