United Nations Refugee agency says it believes that 4,000 people have fled from Syria to Lebanon in recent weeks. The agency said many of those fleeing reported heavy bombardment in the Syrian town of Telkelak. The UNHCR says the refugees have arrived in Lebanon with nothing and need food, shelter and medical help. A spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of Information denied that Telkelak had been shelled. She told the media that the area was full of smugglers and there had been fighting between them and the security forces. She added that 20 members of the security forces had died in the fighting.
