UN prepares document for zero tolerance against terrorism across globe

United Nations Panel on Counter terrorism has prepared a document for zero tolerance against terrorism across the globe. The Panel Chairman Hardeep Puri told reporters that this vision statement to be adopted on 28th of this month, focuses on next ten years and has dealt at length how to deal with the menace, threatening peace and security across the globe.Referring to Comprehensive convention on international terrorism, he said discussions are on and a text will be finalized very soon. Mr. Puri expressed hope that the treaty in the UN for the last ten years will become a reality in the near future. The convention provides for legal mechanism to deal with international terrorism and transnational crime. In response to a question on India’s quest for a permanent membership of the Security Council he said, New Delhi is working on the modalities now. Replying to a question on China’s support for India’s bid for Permanent membership of UNSC; Mr. Puri said it is only a matter of time when China will support India’s aspiration. He said that Beijing is presently supporting Africa and is keen to sea developing countries in the security council of the world body.
