Walter Kalin, the UN Secretary General’s envoy for refugee rights will be arriving in Sri Lanka tonight to press the Government for the early resettlement of nearly three lakhs displaced Tamil civilians, currently staying in various relief camps.<br/>During his five day visit , Walter Kalin will be meeting the senior government officials, international aid agencies, including UN staff, and also visit some sites holding internally displaced people (IDPs) for a first hand information of the camps. UN sources in Colombo said Kalin would also press for improving the living conditions of the displaced Tamil civilians held in various relief camps.<br/>The visit of Kalin comes after a week of the visit of B. Lynn Pascoe, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs. Mr. Pascoe at the end of his visit had observed that the world body had not seen the progress on expected lines and raised concerns over congestion and the ‘closed nature’ of the camps.<br/>
