Today is International Human Rights Day. In a message, the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon has urged all countries to ensure the right of speech. The day marks the anniversary of the adoption of universal declaration of human rights in 1948. The UN General Assembly in a resolution adopted in 1950 invited all states and interested organisations to observe December 10 as Human Rights Day. This year’s theme is Human rights defenders who act to end discrimination.
