The United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has urged international leaders attending climate change talks at Cancun in Mexico to seize the opportunity to reach a deal to restrict deforestation. Mr Ban told delegates they needed to provide hope to a global public growing cynical about the lack of tangible results on climate change. A BBC correspondent at the talks in Cancun says a deal could provide billions of dollars a year to conserve forests in developing countries.
